Bookclub, Buddies and Brooding

On Thursday, when chatting with a bestie during our reading night, I was so smug that I was 2 books ahead for two of my book clubs. I could read anything I wanted! And I really harped on about it.

(Decided on Wilding by Isabella Tree – I’m only a chapter in but riveted. My dad strongly recommended.)

Last night, at 11.20pm, I sent her the following:

An hour in

Yup, so at 10:30 I very quickly bought the book and read it alongside the fantabulistic @L1nds.

She was doing a re-read, I was a newbie to the 15 book series. It didn’t matter whether she finished it. It really mattered that I did!!

Reader, she stayed up till 2.30am with me! I’d throw in a random word or name ‘Miss Climpson!’ ‘Oh my gosh, the letters’ and she’d know exactly where I was up to.

Thank heavens it was a Friday!

So for #LBC3Reads, I was super psyched! Of all of the book clubs, this tiny quarterly is the club I feel most like a member of and not organiser. We choose our books collectively, reading men and women in turn…until this year when we picked Comfort Reads – Crime as our theme. Three of the greatest in the gents just happened to be women (Ethel Alina White, Agatha Christie and DLS).

And as themes go, it’s been utterly perfect! Today we rambled and nattered for a good 2 hours – bliss! And I found a new book series to read! Because OBVIOUSLY!

After, I met up with the elf & the elfling for an ‘until she sleeps’ walk. I hit my 10000 steps EARLY today! As always, it was just so incredible to see someone in person! We talked up a storm, drank some fizzy pop and resumed the debrief. Gods, how valuable is a friends perspective! I’ve a lot on my mind (and who doesn’t right now!) and being able to share is just good for the soul.

Mind you, I also spent some time sorting. Have a boot full of rubbish and a tip run booked for tomorrow.

Also, my garden’s a mess! I need to…you know…do stuff! But it’s cold and wet and…I’m lazy? Still, there are still some very heartening flashes of colour, if you know where to look!
